CAROLS ON THE CAUSEWAY
Despite the earlier rain on Monday evening, 19th December, the weather improved in time for the start of the event. Father Christmas was in his Grotto ready to see the many children who had turned up to see him and post their colouring competition in his postbox. All the children who visited him were given free Christmas chocolates and glo sticks.
The Town Mayor started off the proceedings with the first carol accompanied by Marlow Town Band. It is estimated that over 250 people turned out on the rather damp night to get the festive season off to a good start to sing carols around the very impressive town Christmas Tree. The Rotary Club of Marlow had their usual stand giving out free tubs of hot chestnuts. The George and Dragon provided free mulled wine and Town Council staff were amongst the crowd giving out free warm mince pies kindly donated by Sainsburys.
Marlow Camera Club took photographs of the evening and they will be uploaded to the Gallery very shortly.
The judging for the Children's Colouring Competition has now been completed and the prizes awarded. Town Mayor, Cllr Jocelyn Towns visited Holy Trinity School on 30th January to award Annabel Vary and Conrad Lockwood their prizes of vouchers for Marlow Toys in the High Street. Chloe Shepherd from Spinfield School received her prize of vouchers from the Mayor on 1st February. All winners received a laminated copy of their entry and also a certificate. Annabel Vary was the overall winner and her entry will be used on the Town Council's Christmas card for 2012. Her entry is shown below.
