BEST KEPT VILLAGE
Marlow has been judged as runner-up in the Michael Cup this year.
Judges said that Marlow showed a high standard in its class with particular reference to the particularly well-kept war memorial and spotless stonework and a nice planting scheme. Areas directly under the control of Marlow Town Council scored highly on the judging sheet. The judges would have taken in the following on their visits:
- Parks and playing fields
- Places of Worship, graveyards, cemeteries
- Community centre, council offices
- Areas surrounding hotels, inns, pubs, libraries, shops
- Public notices, town sign posts, litter bins, other public areas including those outside bus and rail stations
- Ancillary features eg out-of-door war memorials, river and streams
- Overall appearance and evidence of community effort
