ENVIRONMENTAL COMPETITION

BEST KEPT VILLAGE

Marlow has been judged as runner-up in the Michael Cup this year.

Judges said that Marlow showed a high standard in its class with particular reference to the particularly well-kept war memorial and spotless stonework and a nice planting scheme.  Areas directly under the control of Marlow Town Council scored highly on the judging sheet.  The judges would have taken in the following on their visits:

  • Parks and playing fields
  • Places of Worship, graveyards, cemeteries
  • Community centre, council offices
  • Areas surrounding hotels, inns, pubs, libraries, shops
  • Public notices, town sign posts, litter bins, other public areas including those outside bus and rail stations
  • Ancillary features eg out-of-door war memorials, river and streams
  • Overall appearance and evidence of community effort
