Town Mayor's
Charity Golf Day.

Town Mayor, Cllr Neil Marshall held the 6th Charity Golf Day on 28th April 2009.

Despite the economic climate, 15 teams took part in this year’s event in aid of The British Heart Foundation and Hearts & Souls.

Many of the teams have played in previous years. Sir Steve Redgrave, CBE was able to take part this year and joined the Awesome Foursome team who included Colin Elwell, Captain of Harleyford, Roger Povey, Chairman of Harleyford and Janet Portergill a Harleyford Member.

Once the teams had enjoyed their day’s golf, they returned to the Club House where a three course meal was served in the Pavilion Restaurant.

Town Mayor, Cllr Neil Marshall presented the prizes to the winners.

The winning team was announced as The Awesome Foursome and team members were presented with The Mayor’s Cup and individual prizes.

There was a tie for the title of Individual Winner between Graham Buckle who was in the Aged Aces team, and Sir Steve Redgrave, but the trophy was awarded to Sir Steve on “countback”.

The Nearest the Pin winner was John Parker of Gordons Solicitors and the Longest Drive awarded to Peter Harford of the Sun City Slickers.

A raffle was held with generous prizes donated by:

Chez Gerard Brasserie Marlow Bar & Grill
Compleat Angler Marlow Town Council
Crowne Plaza Prince of Wales
Danesfield House Royal Oak
Harleyford Golf Club Vanilla Pod
Jog Fit Westside Fruit Ltd.

Sponsors included: Comland Ltd, Michael Shanly and Harleyford Estates.

The Mayor, Cllr Marshall will be holding a Golf Day next April in aid of Newlife Buckinghamshire Fund for Disabled Children.
