Town Mayor's
Charity Golf Day.

The 7th Mayor’s Charity Golf Day was held on 27th April at Harleyford Golf Club. Unfortunately the Town Mayor, Cllr Neil Marshall was unwell with flu and wasn’t able to attend but the event went ahead.

19 teams took part in this annual event and were blessed with a gloriously sunny day.

Last year’s winning team – The Awesome Foursome which included Sir Steve Redgrave was revamped and renamed the Reborn Awesome Foursome. Sir Steve took part again this year to try to help retain the title but unfortunately they were not able to repeat the success of last year.

The winning team was Vantis 2 made up of Clive Jackson, Owen Jesseman, Doug Simmon and Paul Rippon scoring 127 points.

Runners-up were Bach Quartet with Alan Clarke, Kevan Robinson, Jim Robson and John Hodgson with 120 points.

In third place, Emerson 2 with Ian Carter, Tony Austin, Paul Berry and Lee McSweeney and they scored 119.

The Individual winner was Lee McSweeney with 42 points.

Nearest the pin on the 6th was Suzanne Brown and Nearest the Pin in Two on the 14th was won by Owen Jesseman.

Chief Executive, Sheila Brown, OBE with her husband Colin from the Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children, joined the golfers for dinner in the evening and spoke about how the Foundation came into being and the work that it does. 100% of all money raised for the charity is used to help disabled children.
